Feature
Companies that own or lease data center space have the
challenge of maintaining near 100% availability while keeping
costs down.
These goals are made more difficult by an environment
of constant change, a minimum of operations staff, and
an increasingly complex infrastructure of power distribution,
reliability equipment, cooling systems and server loads.
Enterprise energy management (EEM) technology offers
a solution by delivering a unified view of the performance
of all energy assets. Through unique reach and depth of
analytics, EEM systems help maximize reliability, reduce
risk, improve efficiencies, and cost-effectively manage
growth by safely maximizing the use of data center capacity. Full

Smart Tip
Let's
All Agree on One Thing - Accurate Information!
Whether it's because of deregulation, cost allocation
demands or revised budgets, there's one thing that utilities,
suppliers, distributors and users all depend on to maintain
fairness and profitability - accurate energy information.
With metering systems becoming more complex and the demand
for real-time information increasing, we must rely on advanced
technology to make sure everyone's on the same page when
we're reading energy data.
A reliable, synchronized, energy management system sets the
stage for a competitive, financially viable environment for
the production and sale of electricity. See
how some utilities have acheived this.

March 24, 2004 - Power Measurement, a global provider
of enterprise energy management systems, today introduced
three new options for its ION 7550 and ION 7650 intelligent
energy meters: an RTU (remote terminal unit) option
for monitoring multiple utilities (such as water
and gas); a non-intrusive current transformer option
for quick installation without de-energizing circuits;
and a low-voltage DC power option for running a meter
from substation or genset battery supplies. As part
of a full enterprise energy management system, these
advanced capabilities can help managers in industrial,
commercial and utility environments to minimize energy-related
costs, and increase power system reliability enterprise

Energy
Profiling for Profit
Advances in energy information technology have taken
load data from a research curiosity to a value-added commodity,
made it available to a wide range of users, and made it
highly profitable for utilities.
Energy
Profiler Online (EPO) is an Internet-based energy
management tool that presents metered load data in the
form of graphs, charts, tables and estimated bills. It
is also a communications gateway for utilities and their
large commercial and industrial (C/I) customers. The
service is easy to use, requires minimal programming,
and is accessible via any Web browser, such as Internet
Explorer.
For more information on EPO see the Products
section of our website, or see a practical application
of it in this case
study.

What’s an easy way for me to change the displays
on my ION 8500 meter?
|
Answer |
ION Setup 2.0 includes a powerful display configuration
wizard for ION 8000 series meters. The Display Setup
Assistant allows you to rename screens, link and
unlink screen parameters, change screen types, edit
parameter formats and shuffle your display order.
Complete the following steps to change your displays.
1. Open ION Setup and connect to your meter, using
Basic Mode.
2. Navigate to the Displays folder, select Displays
from the Front Panel tab, and click Edit. You may
be prompted for your meter password.
3. Use the Display Editor to make changes to Normal,
Alternate and Test screens. Click the Help button
for more information.
4. Selecting a screen and clicking the Edit button
takes you to the display setup for that screen. Here,
you can change the screen type, link and unlink parameters
and configure display properties such as resolution.
5. After you have finished, click Send to save the
changes to your meter.
